The Social Smile Key - The Secret to Winning on Social Media

It’s been a bit of a tough year for many of us. Hasn’t it? Especially for all of the marketers or the business owners out there trying to make ends meet.

However, I like to believe that in tough times there are many opportunities to become a memorable brand, front-of-mind individual, or business, that consumers remember because of one incredibly simple yet effective tactic.

With so much content competing for consumers’ attention, and the market place saturated with content. How can you ensure that you stay front of mind and memorable?

 

The answer lies in the power of making your audience smile and laugh. Yup, really that easy, I mean, think about when you consume or follow content, what do you follow the most? Memes and entertainment, right?!

By creating content that elicits a positive emotional response, you can create a memorable experience that keeps you top of their mind.

Here are a few ways that tapping into your consumers’ emotional response can be a game-changer:

Emotional connection: When your content makes consumers smile, it builds an emotional connection that can help build brand loyalty and increase the likelihood of repeat business.

If you’re feeling lost on where to even begin, let alone start filming a video that aims to make your audience laugh out loud, here are a few helpful pointers from my learnings over the last five years:

 

Know your audience: Understand what makes your audience tick and what they find funny or heartwarming. This can help be your key to tailor your content to their interests and preferences.

Have a bold approach: Do you really think the idea a lie detector could be a hard pitch to close? You’d be probably be right! But these types of videos I’ve seen others do, they reached over 100,000 people across multiple platforms because it was unique and entertaining to watch. Shows being bold has some ROI.

Keep it authentic: Consumers can sniff out inauthentic content from a mile away. Make sure your content is genuine and aligns with your brand’s values and personality.

 

Making your audience smile can be a powerful way to differentiate your brand and stay front of mind.
